Projects

From industrial validation to scalable customer plants

Build hydrogen and carbon capacity around your site

Hycamite works with industrial customers and project partners to design methane-splitting plants around each site’s hydrogen demand, existing methane supply and carbon material opportunities. Local production can reduce the need for hydrogen pipelines, large-scale storage, new electricity transmission capacity and carbon dioxide transport infrastructure. The solid carbon can be developed and refined into graphite and other higher-value carbon materials for industrial applications.

Hycamite supports customers from feasibility studies and permitting through commissioning, optimization and lifecycle services. Modular technology and catalyst supply help each plant reach its target performance and scale with demand.

Hycamite also supports carbon product development, application-specific testing and qualification, helping create commercial value from the carbon stream and strengthen the European supply of critical materials.

Project recognition

The European Commission has recognized Hycamite’s Kokkola graphite processing project as a Strategic Project under the EU Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA). Our project supports the EU’s strategic goals of strengthening supply chain resilience, reducing dependency on third-country imports and advancing the clean transition.

The project is planned to advance in stages. The planned Hycamite Carbon Refinery (HCR) in Kokkola will develop and validate the production technology, refining processes, product specifications and carbon-material expertise required for industrial scale-up. It will also produce customer-specific sample and validation batches to support material testing and qualification.

Over the longer term, Hycamite plans to use the technology and expertise validated at HCR to scale European production capacity to up to 200,000 tonnes of battery-grade graphite per year.

This project directly supports the EU’s goal of building resilient, domestic value chains for critical raw materials.
