Located in Kokkola, Finland, Hycamite produces clean hydrogen and industrial-quality, solid carbon by splitting methane using proprietary zero-emission technology. The novel pyrolysis technology for thermo-catalytic decomposition (TCD) of methane requires only 13% of the energy needed to produce hydrogen by electrolysis.
Headquartering in Malmö, Sweden, Hulteberg has extensive experience supplying catalysts in the steam methane reforming and pre-reforming for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems, counting almost a dozen customers using the company’s products in commercial systems.
“We are thrilled to launch the collaboration with Hulteberg, because we share the vision of future large-scale hydrogen production using novel catalysts. We are looking forward to strengthening our expertise in reactor development and upscaling through partnering with this innovative catalyst manufacturer”, says Laura Rahikka, CEO of Hycamite.
Hulteberg works with start-up companies and major corporations in the research, development, upscaling, and implementation of heterogeneous catalysis. Most of the work is performed in three catalyst technology areas, hydrogen production, electronics and renewable and recycled fuels and chemicals.
“The prospect of carbon dioxide neutral hydrogen and high-quality carbon generation from biogas or natural gas is a key stepping stone technology for future chemical synthesis. The Hycamite approach is one-of-a-kind, and we are pleased to assist in its upscale and implementation”, says Christian Hulteberg, the owner of Hulteberg Chemistry & Engineering.
