High-quality, sustainable carbon for demanding applications
The Hycamite carbon products are based on electrically conductive carbon nanoproducts making them ideal, for instance, for battery production, supercapacitors, electronics, additives in polymers and composite materials, and concrete manufacturing.
Hycamite TCD Carbon is industrially mass-produced carbon nanofibers (CNF).
Our carbon products are produced by decomposing methane molecules. Methane (CH4) is the primary component of natural gas and biogas. One cubic metre of methane contains over 500 grams of carbon. The thermo-catalytic decomposition (TCD) technology developed by Hycamite is based on methane pyrolysis, which is the heating of methane in the absence of oxygen. The catalysts used are what make Hycamite’s process unique.
Our proprietary thermo-catalytic decomposition (TCD) process is emission-free, and the catalysts used are sustainable. When biogas is used as the methane source, you create a carbon sink when you use our carbon products. In addition to producing solid carbon, we also produce zero-emission hydrogen used for decarbonising industry.
Hycamite has developed a family of catalysts that lowers the temperature needed for methane splitting compared to older methods for a methane pyrolysis process. Using different catalysts, Hycamite can also produce different types of carbon products. This means that Hycamite’s carbon products can be adapted to meet the needs of different customers.
