“We are very pleased with the smooth progress of the permitting process, as we are already well advanced in the preparation of the CSF, and our customers will soon expect higher volumes of our zero-emission hydrogen and industrial grade solid carbon,” says Laura Rahikka, CEO of Hycamite.
The Regional State Administrative Agency for Western and Inland Finland issued a trial permit for Hycamite’s CSF in September, and the appeal period has expired. Earlier, the Kokkola Building and Environment Committee had already granted a building permit for the new plant. This means that the entire permitting process has been completed, and construction can start.
The construction of the CSF will not require any changes to the zoning plan for the area, as the CSF will be built in the Kokkola Industrial Park (KIP) area, which already allows for the construction of the new Hycamite plant and its industrial use.
Hycamite TCD Technologies opened its small test facility for hydrogen production in KIP in 2021. The new CSF will be built in the vicinity of the Hycamite headquarters and the small test facility. KIP is northern Europe’s largest ecosystem of inorganic chemical industry, where several companies leading in the chemical and metal processing industries operate. In KIP, there are 19 industrial plants and over 60 service companies, which support the core functions of industrial companies.
