According to him, the huge wind power potential of the Bay of Bothnia could be exploited in the production of clean hydrogen.
“In Germany, tens of billions of euros of solar energy investment is planned in North Africa, from which production would be imported by hydrogen to Germany. We need to turn Central Europe's gaze north”, says Malkamäki.
He also sees an opportunity in the production of so-called synthetic fuels. It captures industrial CO2
emissions and mixes them with hydrogen. Malkamäki believes that the conditions for production in Finland are favorable.
“The Gulf of Bothnia could be a similar area to the Persian Gulf now. We supply fuels to others. That is not a far-fetched idea.” Read here more
